In June, I gave ICANN's tentative release schedule for new gTLDs after ICANN Senior Vice President of Services Kurt Pritz had revealed it during the Sydney GNSO Council meeting.
This schedule has just been confirmed by two other members of ICANN's staff speaking at the Asia Pacific TLD Association meeting currently being held in Beijing: Vice President of Global and Strategic Partnerships Theresa Swinehart and Senior Director of IDNs Tina Dam.
Swinehart confirmed that the 3rd version of the Draft Applicant Guidebook (DAGv3) would be released by ICANN in Q3 2009, before the Seoul ICANN meeting (October 25 – 30). The final DAG would then be published in Q4 (December, I expect).
Dam then said that ICANN would open the first application window in Q1 2010.
All this is inline with Pritz' earlier comments and means that the first new gTLDs could be given a green light by ICANN before the end of next year.
