The year 2010 is turning out to be the "year of DNSSEC" from Registry implementations, Registrar implementations, ISP support, to the Root being signed this summer. Because we are dealing with such critical infrastructure, it is important to not lose sight of careful implementations.
We, at .ORG, The Public Interest Registry, are taking a measured and deliberate approach. In preparation for launching signed delegations, i.e., permitting certified registrars to offer DNSSEC services to registrants, we requested Afilias to conduct a thorough risk analysis of our readiness to launch signed delegations in the .ORG TLD. Afilias engaged the expert services of Shinkuro, Inc., to provide an independent assessment of the risk analysis.
In the spirit of keeping our DNSSEC implementation transparent, I am pleased to make this analysis document available to other registries as they move forward with their DNSSEC Implementation.
